Mary’s Struggle for a Normal Life!

Continuing with pre-pubs, my latest light novel review features a cute cast of characters and a struggle with controlling strength!

The invincible little girl in question from the title is Mary Regalia, a reincarnated noble whose enjoying a new life in a healthy body. The only problem; her body is a little too healthy. Given new abilities by the God of this world, her stats are maxed, and now the world around her is as fragile as cracked glass.

Joined by plenty of friends along the way, Mary’ll have to make the best of her knowledge from her previous life to navigate a fantasy world with overpowered abilities!

Mary and the Fragile World

The Invincible Little Lady is brought alive by its central protagonist, Mary. After dying from an illness in her previous life, she uses her new one in a fantasy world to the fullest just trying to have everyday experiences.

Whilst she often fails at her plans to blend in, throughout her perspective, it becomes clear the amount of fun she’s having at trying to experience the normal everyday things that she couldn’t previously.

In its premier volume, these normal activities range from Mary making her first friends to going to a festival and entering a fighting tournament. The latter example is one of my personal favourites, Mary exerts many an effort to fail early on and appear normal, only for her to win almost every fight on a technicality.

Adding to this refreshing perspective, the series gives a wonderfully balanced humorous undertone. Reading through, rather than laughing out loud, I often found myself with a smile on my face as Mary struggles with controlling her strength – constantly smashing plates and breaking off door handles accidentally.

The Royal Ensemble

Mary isn’t the only quirky character. Joining in on her journey is a group of friends she’s made before and at the academy. While they all have their moments, by the end of the volume, there are three standouts.

The first is Tutte, her first friend in the new world. She’s a devout follower of Mary and often joins in on her schemes to try and appear normal. Next is Sacher, a battle junkie and sparring partner, there are often fun moments to be found as Mary wipes the floor with him. Finally, there’s Magiluka. In any other otome series, she would be a jealous rival, instead, she becomes fast friends with Mary teaching her magic.

Each of these side characters adds something great to the series and given the direction this series is taking, I’m looking forward to the subsequent volumes which add to this quirky cast.

Overall, The Invincible Little Lady is a refreshing and fun fantasy read. Featuring a balanced humorous undertone and some great side characters it earns its place amongst the numerous cute/moe fantasy series on the market.
