Amanda and Evelyn on a Girls’ Night (ABC/Disney)

Coming off the back of Rafael and Sunny’s happy ending, the fifteenth episode sees the characters split over three different stories as they deal with ongoing fallout and a bit of side quest fun.

Having had their hotel stay ruined by a vicious murder, the first story features Amanda and Evelyn, and later Faith and Ormwood, as they star in a girls’ night gone wrong caper. Light-hearted and filled with fun little moments, it has the four characters get under each other’s skin as they search for an infamous diamond thief known as the Falconess.

While investigating the robbery, the story offers insight into the little-seen side of Amanda’s private life before she became head of the GBI. Hoping to put her romantic prospects back on track, a murder at a hotel gives Amanda plenty of opportunities to discover her past as “Randy Mandy.”

A New Love Interest for Amanda? (ABC/Disney)

For Will, meanwhile, his journey during this episode is far from the fun of catching a jewel thief. Instead, his fraught shooting from earlier in the series (episode 11) rears its ugly head again.

In a tough sequence of events for him, he’s brought back to the family whose eldest son he killed when the youngest son seeks revenge. Taken back to witness the aftermath of his actions, he’s shown how the family struggles to cope without their eldest, all while dealing with everything he sees as a painful reminder of what he’s done.

Will’s Shooting Resurfaces (ABC/Disney)

In a positive spin on this constant tale of woe, however, Will’s time with the family produces a sense of closure—albeit an uncomfortable one, as the mother forgives Will for the sake of her family’s future.

Will isn’t the only one undergoing a torturous series of events. Just as she’s started to get back on track, a personal tragedy threatens to turn Angie’s life upside down again.

Having never appeared in the series previously, the episode finds Angie looking after her dying mother, who’s been in a long-term coma. While preparing her for her final moments, the story finds Angie reflecting on the short time they had together.

As you might imagine, given Angie’s long stint in social care, their relationship was tumultuous at best. Her mother’s addiction consumed her life, destroying the lives of those around her, but Angie’s most of all. These moments end up affecting Angie a great deal, especially her reflections on addiction, which inevitably lead towards Angie breaking her sobriety and the worrying path that follows.

Despite the fun and light story at the episode’s heart, it is with its more serious plots that episode 15 truly shines. Will’s road to redemption and Angie’s worrying descent towards addiction are highlights and show promise for things to come as the season approaches its finale.
