Years have passed since dungeons sprung up around the world. When adventurer Amane Rin awakens to a unique skill called “Dungeon Teleporting,” the rules can’t touch him anymore. Rin’s Dungeon Quest to Become the Strongest!

My newest review focuses on Seven Seas’ latest light novel title, World’s Fastest Level Up.

Featuring the appearance of dungeons in an alternate Japan, the story centres around the adventures of Amane Rin. Considered to be useless due to his less-than-stellar unique ability, Dungeon Teleportation, his life takes a dramatic turn for the better once his skill reaches LV. 1O.

Now able to teleport throughout dungeons he’s already visited without normal constraints, he’s able to smash up the levelling system, challenging ever harder dungeons and maybe even saving a few adventurers along the way!

I’m finding it very difficult to find the right words to review this series without putting off readers unnecessarily, because, whilst this series comes over as generic, throughout the entire volume, I couldn’t help but thoroughly enjoy myself.

It’s one of these series that, whilst lacking depth, more than makes up for it in its fast-moving pace and nicely set-out action sequences. Perhaps it could also be the fact that it reminds me of slightly older isekai series in both its character introductions and progression.

As for the characters, Rin serves as the protagonist. He’s determined to progress through the different dungeons in search of strength to protect others. The author does a good job of weighing out his skill set properly. Whilst being overpowered, it is mainly his constant grinding that has ensured the unique skill works to its fullest effect. His personality is measured unlike most of his former teammates.

Other main characters introduced in the first volume are Rin’s sister Hana, and the two adventures Yui and Rei. Of the three of these, Rei gets the best characterisation. Having similar motivations to Rin, him saving her from the final boss at the end of the volume cements her feelings and his life path.

Overall, World’s Fastest Level Up is a solid addition to Seven Seas’ fantasy roster. Fast-paced and action-packed, it hits all the right notes for an action fantasy series even if the depth is a little lacking.
