Synopsis:

With the empire now off their backs, Forge Eizo welcomes Anne as a permanent member of the family! Eizo offers to buy everyone gifts as rewards for their hard work, but they suggest something else—each member of the household gets to spend an entire day alone with him. Meanwhile, Camilo informs Eizo of a commission request from an unexpected customer: Marius! The count is finally getting married, and he wants a set of custom wedding rings. Just one problem—Marius wants them made from meghizium, a rare and expensive metal that only a handful of blacksmiths in the world can manipulate. Eizo is excited for the challenge, but the atmosphere turns dire when a fairy named Gizelle appears and asks for his aid in curing a disease. Our humble blacksmith already has his hands full with the wedding bands…but “Doctor Eizo” also has a nice ring to it! (Source: J-Novel Club)

A Blacksmith’s Fairy Encounter!

Strengthening Bonds

Fresh off of a plot filled with political intrigue, My Quiet Blacksmith Life’s seventh volume starts with a little family bonding time.

With the total number of members of the forge equalling eight, not including Eizo, a section where the protagonist spends a little time with each of them is long overdue. Luckily, the women of the household get this ball rolling when they each ask Eizo for some time alone with him as a reward for all the hard work they’ve put in.

This volume sees the turn of both Samya and Helen. Their “dates” involve a couple’s hunting trip and a special request for armour as they use their precious time alone with him to strengthen their friendship and start the building blocks of love.

Wedding Bells and a Fairy Sickness

Eizo isn’t the only character in this volume strengthening bonds as Marius has decided to finally tie the knot with his childhood sweetheart Julie.

As a result of his best friend’s wedding looming, Eizo’s latest blacksmithing job is one of a much more delicate nature – creating a set of wedding rings.

Passing his hand at creating a set of wedding rings was always going to be a tough ask, even when the main character has a blacksmithing cheat. However, his latest job is made all the tougher when special inhabitants of the Black Forest make a surprise appearance.

Dragons and magical bears aren’t the only mythical creatures to make the Black Forest their home. As Eizo quickly learns, one of the harshest environments on the planet is also home to a tribe of fairies, and they’ve come to Eizo as he holds the solution to a deadly disease plaguing their people.

Alongside forging relations with a new species within the forest, Eizo’s lucky encounter with the fairies also provides a special little something that ensures Marius’ wedding becomes an even more joyous occasion.

Overall, My Quiet Blacksmith Life’s seventh outing is one of its strongest. Moving outside of the usual day-to-day, the latest volume is more focused on strengthening bonds and friendships. Long overdue, a large section of this volume’s story is dedicated to the dynamics between family members within the forge, and as each member gets their set time with Eizo, there’s a pleasant depth added to their blossoming relationships.

Furthermore, the latest volume in the series sees Ezio’s forge make friendly relations with the fairy tribe, once again adding to the legend described by the author at the very start of the series.
